Understanding Your Insurance Benefits

Posted .

For those facing infertility, the cost is an important factor to consider.  Here are some helpful tips. The good news is that in-network insurance plans are billable for diagnostic testing.  Once scheduled for a new patient appointment, we will verify your insurance benefits. After your initial consultation and once a treatment plan has been decided, we can let you know what is and isn’t billable to your insurance.

Insurance Terms

Premiums: Monthly health insurance cost.

Deductibles: The amount you pay for covered health care services before your insurance plan starts to pay. Prescriptions may have a separate deductible.

Co-insurance: Once you have met your deductible, depending on what plan you have, your insurance will pay a percentage and you will pay a percentage.

Copay: a fixed amount that a healthcare beneficiary pays for covered medical services.

Fertility benefits: Each year we are seeing more insurance plans that offer infertility benefits.

While these are simple guidelines we encourage you to contact your insurance by calling the customer service number on the back of your card or checking with your benefits department.
